Closed-End Funds

Organized by a publicly traded investment company, a closed-end fund is a pooled investment fund, similar to a mutual fund. Closed-end funds represent an interest in a certain industry or sector and are actively managed by an investment advisor.

Why the name ‘closed-end fund’? Well unlike mutual funds, CEFs are closed—meaning that capital does not regularly flow into them when investors buy shares. The capital also generally does not flow out when investors sell shares. These investment funds can be tricky, and we’re experts at managing the nuances of closed-end funds for our clients in Bend and Central Oregon.
